Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen

“Crazy isn't being broken or swallowing a dark secret. It's you or me amplified. If you ever told a lie and enjoyed it. If you ever wished you could be a child forever.”

Synopsis
In 1967, after a session with a psychiatrist she'd never seen before, eighteen-year-old Susanna Kaysen was put in a taxi and sent to McLean Hospital. She spent most of the next two years on the ward for teenage girls in a psychiatric hospital as renowned for its famous clientele--Sylvia Plath, Robert Lowell, James Taylor, and Ray Charles--as for its progressive methods of treating those who could afford its sanctuary.

Honestly, when I first picked up the book, I thought it was going to be a 5-star read. I was really looking forward to reading it. But it just kind of disappointed me. The story was great, and it was captivating, I finished this book in about an hour. It's such a fast and enjoyable read. But what I didn't really like was the writing style. Maybe it has to do with the fact that this is a memoir, and I usually read fiction.

Overall, the book was really enjoyable, but not as enjoyable as I thought it would be. If that makes sense.
